Welcome back to Roettger.com!
As the title states, this is a place that I have put together in hopes of getting to know those who share in the surname, whether currently, or past (due to marriages/whatnot).
The goal is to get to know our family as it stretches around the world. Roettgers (with the name variation being different depending on where you are from) can be found throughout the United States and Europe. Feel free to register and join us! The forums are here for us to share stories, information, etc, to get to know each other. And if you have a Roettger oriented web site, please share with me and I will get it linked on here.
One important note. This is a family friendly site. Please do not post
or discuss offensive content on this site, nor use vulgar language. My
family (including my kids) are visiting the site and I expect others
will as well. I do not want to create a place they do not feel
comfortable at.
Last but not least, I am looking forward to meeting a lot of you,
even
if it is just by communication on this site. I really love to hear about
other Roettgers that are out and about in the world. I am willing to
share what I can both here and on Ancestry.com where I have some
genealogy work being done. But in all cases, please ensure the
information you put online is someting you don't mind the world to know.
There are those who are searching for what they can to steal
identities. I just want to ensure you are protecting yourself, and most
importantly, your children!
Please register and lets have fun! If you do find a bug or want to see
something added to the site, please let me know. There will be an area
in the forums to allow you to do this. The goal is to create a great
environment for us. And if you have a site you wish to have listed from
here, please feel free to provide it to me in the forums.

User Registration and Nickname

Still playing around with the site, but the good news is, we are up and
running!
I want to fine tune the user registration process, to make it a lot more
information not only for you, but for me as a site administrator.
Though the site is open to all, there were past problems where people
were posting spam in the forums which ended up requiring the site to be
locked down to username/passwords, with the requirement to approve
accounts. So please be patient as I work this.
One note though - when you register, your nickname that you choose is
your login name as well as the name everyone sees you as in the forums
and members list. So please don't use logins that you don't want anyone
else to know about, and hopefully something descriptive so that we know
who you are. Good example is my account. :)

Mail Accounts or Alias Forwarders

As I start moving forward with the fine tuning of this site, I will be offering some the chance to have an email alias. This is a @roettger.com account that will point your mail to your normal email account. For example, you could get mark@roettger.com that forwards to your anything45@hotmail.com. This way, you can have an alias that looks like your name.
Just thought I would let you know. Need to do some more tweaking and getting things setup, but is something I want to do.

Hey everyone!
I really
apologize for the
site being offline for so long. There were several contributing factors
to this. The most important is due to health issues I have been dealing
with, to include surgery and recovery. With all of that going on, I
wasn't able to focus on finding out what was breaking the old site and
how to get it back up and operational.
